"When I bought my farm, I did not know what a bargain I had in bluebirds, bobolinks and thrushes: as little did I know what sublime mornings and sunsets I was buying." –Ralph Waldo Emerson

Emerson could not have said it better for us!

Within 90 minutes drive from Bangalore, Silver Oak offers you and your family, a picturesque 'hill-station' get-away, a tranquil ambience, and clean fresh air.  This is a unique opportunity to actively participate in rural life, as Silver Oak is an eco-friendly farm on ten acres of fertile land, located on the early slopes of the famous Nandi Hills (Wikipedia). The location is picturesque
by day and by night, the ambience tranquil, the weather comfortable year round, and we do have our share of a large variety of beautiful birds and 'sublime mornings and sunsets.'

Merely 60 kms from Bangalore, our farm is on the traditional route leading up to the temple on Nandi Hills. While this route is used even today by a large number of pilgrims, it also offers enthusiastic trekkers a scenic and fairly challenging climb up Nandi Hills.  The road is motor able up to the gate of Silver Oak and then continues as steps to the famous Yoganandeeswara temple at the top of Nandi Hill.

Over weekends (Friday to Sunday) and on public holidays, subject to prior confirmed booking, we open our farm to visitors offering them the experience of country life with wholesome, home-cooked food and a relaxed, comfortable home-stay facility.  Continental cuisine is our specialty, prepared with produce largely grown on the farm.

Built on the hillside, our farmhouse offers magnificent views of the surrounding hills and plains in any direction you look. These are best enjoyed from the spacious verandah in the front of the house.  This is a pleasant place to relax during the day or in the evenings and to enjoy the calm, the solitude and the clean fresh air of the countryside.

All cultivation is strictly organic in discipline.   Apart from the banana, papaya and coconut plantation, we have our own kitchen garden where we grow a variety of vegetables and herbs, enough to meet our own in-house requirement.  A variety of fruit trees will in due course give us organically grown fruit; we are already harvesting custard apple, papaya, banana, passion fruit, chiku, guava, pomegranate and watermelon.  We also have country chickens, which give us fresh wholesome eggs as well as birds for the table. Guests and their children are thrilled when they are lucky enough to see recently hatched chicks.
